A reasonably common scenario we come across is a baby and mother being sent home from hospital with nipple shields for feeding, with no further strategies or support to optimise feeding.

This is a patient story where one of those babies was able to feed properly for the first time immediately after lip and tongue tie surgery.

For us it was a memorable moment to see the relief and joy not only for mum, but for maternal grandmother too.
It highlights how impactful it may be if lip and tongue ties are ruled out when there is a need to rely on nipple shields for an extended period of time.
